Annex 1. Tools for system analysis A1.1. AVZ program The AVZ program (Zaitsev's Anti-Virus) is a very useful utility, and has helped me more than once since the days of Windows XP. Then I used the Kaspersky antivirus, which did not know how to work in safe mode. It turned out like this -

Every user whose work is somehow connected with a computer knows who a system administrator is and understands that this work requires knowledge in the field of information technology.

But often knowledge alone is not enough, and in order to perform diagnostics and restore the normal operation of computer equipment, both conventional and special tools are required.

Home users sooner or later also have to deal with the maintenance of their computer. At a minimum, this is disassembly, cleaning and replacement of individual components. One screwdriver is often enough for this, but when it comes to troubleshooting, this is no longer enough.

In order to measure the battery voltage on the motherboard, you need a multimeter, which is also useful for checking the voltage of the power supply and detecting breaks.

To restore the wiring that has come off the front panel of a PC, you often need a simple soldering iron, and craftsmen can even solder swollen capacitors on the motherboard or in the power supply.

To relay the Internet cable or simply replace the connector, many have to submit an application to the provider and wait several days for the arrival of the master. All this can be done independently in a matter of minutes, having crimping pliers at hand.

In general, a system administrator and a technically savvy user must have a certain set of tools. In addition, many tools from it fall on the farm.

It is very cool when everything you need is in one place, and not scattered in different boxes. This task is solved by system administrator tool kits, in which each tool has its own place, and thanks to a convenient case, you can take it with you to a friend or client.

These sets are so diverse that everyone can find one that suits their needs and budget. For example, here are a few options that are popular among system administrators.

Includes the most essential high quality twisted pair crimping and testing tools.

This set is more suitable for experienced system administrators and installers, it includes:

  • digital professional twisted pair tester
  • crimper for crimping connectors (6 in 1)
  • cable stripping tool
  • screwdriver with interchangeable inserts (34 pcs)
  • instrument case

A simpler, more focused kit that contains only the essentials for cable lugs installation tasks.

This set is more focused on installers who know what they need for convenient work, it includes:

  • cable tester E Network
  • crimper for installing modular connectors (3-position)
  • cable stripping tool
  • Phillips screwdriver 5×75 mm
  • flat screwdriver 5×75 mm
  • zipper bag

This kit is designed for repairing computers and peripherals and includes a large set of tools that can be useful for a variety of purposes.

It is perfect for repair technicians and those users who love to craft and do everything with their own hands, because it has everything you can imagine:

  • electric screwdriver
  • bit set (25 pcs)
  • precision screwdrivers
  • combination wrench (5-11 mm)
  • socket set (5-10 mm)
  • soldering iron with suction
  • pliers with cutters
  • parts box
  • zipper bag

This kit includes everything you need to connect your computer to the network.

It is suitable for specialists who connect computers to the Internet and troubleshoot network problems, its composition will make this work as easy as possible:

  • cable tester E Network
  • connector crimping tool (3 in 1)
  • cable cutting stripper
  • RJ-45 connectors (80 pcs)
  • plastic case

There are many more modifications of tool sets and you can choose the most suitable one for yourself, and even if something is not enough there, then it is not a problem to supplement it with what you need.

The main administration tools of the 1C:Enterprise system are implemented as part of the configurator. However, there are a number of mechanisms and utilities that are not included in the configurator, although they are also related to the administration of the 1C:Enterprise system. We list the most important mechanisms and tools that are part of the administrative tools:

Authentication mechanisms

a list of users

When the next user connects to the application solution, the authentication mechanism allows you to find out exactly which of the users listed in the list of users connects to the application solution. This information is used to allow access to certain information, etc.

Allows you to describe the powers of various users of the system to access this or that information.

Active Users

Job mechanism

The list of active users allows you to get information about which users of the infobase are currently working with it.

The job mechanism allows you to organize asynchronous execution of procedures of common modules, and automatic execution of procedures of common modules according to a schedule.

Common infobase lists and labels

Registration log

Lists of common infobases and shortcuts make it much easier to administer systems with a large number of users.

The registration log contains information about what events occurred in the infobase at a certain point in time or what actions a particular user performed.

Technology magazine

The technological log is intended for the analysis of technological problems of the system operation and the analysis of crashes of any applications of the 1C:Enterprise 8 system running on this computer.

The system allows you to unload the current infobase to a file on disk and load the infobase from a file.

Testing and fixing the infobase

Infobase settings

Various failures (power outages, computer freezes, etc.) that occur while users work with the infobase can lead to its incorrect state. A special procedure for testing and correcting is used to diagnose and correct an erroneous state of infobases.

In 1C:Enterprise 8, it is possible to set infobase parameters: infobase lock wait time, minimum user password length, and complex password.

Regional infobase settings

Configuration update

Configuring infobase regional settings allows you to control the format for displaying dates, times, numbers, and logical constants in the application solution.

During the operation of the applied solution, situations may arise that require changes to the applied solution. For example, a new version of an application solution may be released, or it may simply be necessary to add new functionality to an existing application solution. In this case, the infobase administrator can update the application solution configuration.

Server cluster administration 1C:Enterprise

File Database Recovery Utility

To monitor 1C:Enterprise 8 servers, create and delete infobases, you can use both the Windows administration utility and cross-platform tools.

For offline checking and restoring the file database (without launching the configurator), a special utility is used, which is included in the delivery set.

Launching the configurator in batch mode

Job options

In addition to launching 1C:Enterprise by selecting the appropriate icon from the Start-Programs menu, you can launch the client application executable file by specifying the required parameters in the launch command line.

1C:Enterprise 8 provides work in two versions, which allow both one user and a large workgroup to work with the application solution in a completely identical way.

1C:Performance management center

1C: Test Center

A tool for monitoring and analyzing the performance of information systems based on the 1C:Enterprise 8 platform. Designed to evaluate system performance, collect detailed technical information about existing performance problems and analyze this information for further optimization.

A tool for automating multi-user load testing of information systems on the 1C: Enterprise 8 platform. It can be used to simulate the operation of an enterprise without the participation of real users, which allows you to evaluate the applicability, performance and scalability of an information system in real conditions.

1C: Quality Control Center

Equipment selection

A tool that guarantees efficient and reliable operation of the system on the 1C: Enterprise 8 platform due to timely and proper maintenance of the system. This is especially important for implementations with high requirements for system performance and reliability. When creating this tool, the experience of maintaining hundreds of enterprise implementations was compiled.

This section contains recommendations for choosing equipment for working with 1C:Enterprise 8. It provides information on how the characteristics of equipment affect the efficiency of using the system in various modes and gives recommendations for selecting equipment depending on the tasks being solved.

Authentication mechanisms

A user of a modern Microsoft operating system may need to learn how to administer Windows to manage their PC.

To do this, the OS provides many different tools that provide computer control both using the keyboard and mouse,.

Most ordinary users who turn on the computer to run a game or access the Internet do not need to understand the administration features.

But, if you use these functions already built into the system, you can make your life much easier when performing any task on your PC.

Entering the computer management menu

To launch the main administration tools, open the administration tab. This can be done in two ways:

  • Enter the "Start" menu and right-click on the "Computer" item, select "management";
  • By pressing the "Win" and "R" keys, opening the command execution window and entering compmgmtlauncher. After the first launch, the command will be saved, and you can no longer type it every time, but select it from the drop-down list.

After that, the system management window opens, where all the main tools are presented that will allow you to fully customize it for your needs.

The same programs and services can be run separately (for which there are special commands) or through the "Administration" item.

It will also be useful when removing traces of any applications (including viruses, although not necessarily).

You can start the editor by opening the run window (Win + R) and entering the regedit command.

When editing it, it should be remembered that it is worth changing only those items in the purpose of which the user is sure.

Otherwise, you can disrupt the operation of your computer and even lead to the need to reinstall programs, drivers, or the entire operating system.

Local Users and Groups Editor

The ability to edit both individual PC users and their groups is not provided for all versions of Windows - only for professional ones.

But with its help, you can configure both the system and the accessibility of various people to it, allowing them to use some programs, and forbidding others to run.

Services

The services tab provides access to the list. This lists all the services available in the operating system, including those that are running or disabled.

Some of them work automatically, and you should not interfere in the operation of these processes without special need.

However, there are services that are managed manually - this can be, for example, a program or a utility for updating it.

Computer disk management

Not only an experienced user may need to manage computer disks.

Sometimes some of the disks (especially when using several hard drives or outdated file systems such as FAT32 on the computer) become invisible after the system is reinstalled.

And to search for them, you will have to go to this control menu.

Using the disk management utility, you can enable and disable various partitions on hard drives connected to a PC, change their names and letters.

And you can also solve the problem with a non-opening flash drive here without using third-party programs.

device Manager

To install new hardware and resolve issues with drivers, you cannot do without using the device manager built into the system.

In addition, working with the list of devices, you can turn them on and off.

And also find out information about each that may be required, for example, to check that the computer configuration meets the requirements of the program (game).

Task Manager

The task manager has a lot of functions.

First of all, it turns out to be useful when searching for malicious programs (viruses) that launch extraneous processes for execution by a computer.

Here, on Windows 8 and 10, applications are configured that automatically load with the system (“Startup”).

Events

The utility for viewing events in the system is not always useful even for an experienced PC user and administrator of a group of such computers.

However, with this tool, you can easily determine the cause of problems.

True, its use requires special knowledge, without which it is better not to take any action.

Windows provides system scheduling for a number of tasks. Thanks to this utility, you can assign, for example, periodic defragmentation or a disk check.

Although it is also used by some malicious programs.

So, getting rid of viruses, it is worth checking the scheduler.

System Monitor

Using the "system monitor" utility, you can get data on the workload of some PC components - memory, processor and paging file.

And a lot of other useful information about the operation of the system.

Resource Monitor

Part of the data about the work of Windows is available directly from the task manager.

However, the "resource monitor" provides a more complete picture of the use of PC resources by all system processes. To do this, click the "Start" button.

Type Resource Monitor in the search box, and then select Resource Monitor from the list of results.

Firewall

The purpose of a standard firewall is to provide network security. Without it, most antiviruses will not be effective.

If you use the advanced settings of the utility, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of hacking your PC and getting viruses on it.

Important! True, the use of a firewall can also interfere with the launch of other necessary programs that have to be added to its list of exceptions.

Remote administration

The computer can be administered directly by the user himself, but in some cases it becomes necessary to provide remote control.

The reason is usually the inability to independently deal with system problems.

And, so that an experienced user does not have to be physically present at the computer, there is the possibility of remote administration.

Sometimes such an opportunity is also required for the user himself, working on a home computer from home, or vice versa.

To provide access to one PC from another, installation and configuration of a special program is required. Most often, an application is used for this.

The capabilities of this popular program include simple remote access, which even an inexperienced user can handle.

In addition, TeamViewer is easy to install and has a relatively simple access method.

It is enough to enter the computer ID and its password, after which you can administer a system that is physically located even several thousand kilometers away.

conclusions

Using the Windows system administration utilities can be a good option to control all the processes that occur on the computer.

However, without the appropriate knowledge, you should not try to make changes to the operation of the OS, as this can lead to serious consequences.

Administration in Windows 7

Introduction to Administrative Tools in the Windows 7 Control Panel

Although Active Directory is maintained and managed on Windows 2000 or .NET servers, it can also be managed from a remote Windows XP Professional client. This control is implemented through the Windows .NET Administration Tools, a set of tools that can be added to the MMC console of a Windows XP Professional client.

Note. It is important to remember that the Windows XP Professional client you are using must be part of a Windows 2000 domain. "Remotely" does not mean that the domain is managed from the Internet.

As we mentioned earlier, MMC is a useful tool because it allows you to create a customized environment for networking and computer management. This is done using snap-ins. You can add as many as you need to work.

The Windows .NET Server Administration Tools Pack (adminpak.msi) allows an administrator to remotely manage Windows 2000 servers from a Windows XP Professional computer.

To install the Windows .NET Server Administration Tools Pack on your local machine, download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?ReleaseID=34032&area=search&ordinal=1.

The adminpak.msi file is included on the Windows 2000 installation disk. However, there is no Windows XP version on the Windows XP Professional installation disk, although adminpak.msi is included on the .NET installation disk.

Note. At the time of writing this course, the third beta version of the Windows .NET Server Administration Tools Pack is available. The file size is 10.4 MB, which should be kept in mind when downloading a file over a slow connection.

The Windows .NET Server Administration Tools Pack provides a set of commonly used tools for remotely administering servers and services. Administration tools are provided as MMC snap-ins. They can be used for any Windows .NET Server operating system and Windows XP Professional.

Note. The Administration Toolkit does not work on Windows XP Home Edition or 64-bit editions.

The adminpak.msi file includes the following applications:

  • Active Directory Domains and Trusts (Active Directory - domains and trust);
  • Active Directory Sites and Services (Active Directory - sites and services);
  • Active Directory Users and Computers (Active Directory - users and computers);
  • Certification Authority (Certification Center);
  • Cluster Administrator (Cluster Administrator);
  • Component Services (Component Services);
  • Computer Management (Computer Management);
  • Connection Manager Administraion Kit
  • Data Sources (ODBS) (Data Sources);
  • DHCP
  • Distributed File System (Distributed file system);
  • Event Viewer;
  • Local Security Policy (Local security policy);
  • .NET Framework Configuration (.NET Framework Configuration);
  • .NET Wizards (Wizards.NET);
  • Network Load Balancing Manager (Network Load Balancing Manager);
  • Performance (Performance);
  • Remote Desktops (Remote desktops);
  • Remote Storage (External storage);
  • Routing and Remote Access (Routing and remote access);
  • Server Extensions Administrator (Administrator of server extensions);
  • Services (Services);
  • Telephony (Telephony);
  • Terminal Server Licensing (Terminal Server Licensing);
  • Terminal Services Manager (Terminal Services Manager);
  • WINS.

On fig. Figure 6.11 shows an example Network Load Balancing Manager application. We'll look at the specific features of each Windows .NET Administration Tools in the application.

Domains are an important part of the network. They are not only mechanisms for working in large networks, but are also important for the functioning of the Active Directory service and for providing security boundaries. In addition to being used on client machines, Windows XP Professional is also used to manage domain resources.

Lecture 7. Internet Information Services

While Windows XP Professional prides itself on its new web tools, one of the most powerful tools has been around since the advent of Windows NT. Internet Information Services (IIS) provides an integrated service for Hypertext Transport Protocol (HTTP) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP). IIS also includes third-party extensions and applications that take its capabilities beyond the boundaries of ordinary Internet services. This includes email, security, and site management tools.

In this lecture, we will look at Microsoft's main web service tool and how it can be used in a Windows XP Professional environment. First, we'll talk about what IIS is and how to use it. Then we will look at the installation process on a Windows XP Professional system. At the end of the lecture, we will give some useful tips for using IIS.
